ANDEY KE PAKOREY (EGG PAKORAS)
(RAMAZAN SPECIAL)
Pakoras are a very popular street food of Sub-continent, an evening dish, deep fried and with various fillings or mixtures. Special and common among them are Crispy Onion Pakoras and Potato Slice Pakoras dipped or wrapped in Gram Flour batter. It is also made with many vegetables and chicken as well.
In India, it is also called Bajji or Bajjia. Normal Pakoras are a mix of sliced Onions, Red chili powder or flakes, salt, Carom seeds, sliced green chilies and coriander etc. Apart from normal Pakora, it can be made with any Vegetable or Chicken and even Minced Meat.
Curry Pakora is also a very popular dish of sub-continent and is made with Yogurt blended with different spices and fried pakoras are then put into this Yogurt curry.
Pakoras are more popular in Scotland than England but are eaten in England as a fast food snack. It is also commonly eaten in Nepal, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, South Africa and many other African countries.
As there is no harm in trying different ingredients for Pakoras, boiled egg Pakoras are also popular in Pakistan, especially with younger children.
Here I am giving you the very simple and easy recipe of Egg Pakoras with the only difficulty of covering the pieces of boiled egg with the gram flour batter, which is a delicate thing to do as boiled pieces of eggs tend to break apart by the yolk separates from the white.
Let us start our Egg Pakora recipe with the name of ALLAH.
EQUATION:
Boiling Eggs: 11 minutes
Making Batter: 05 minutes
Frying time: 10 minutes
Yield: 24
Expenses: 70-80 Rupees only (Less than a Dollar)
INGREDIENTS REQUIRED:
- 6 Boiled Eggs
- 1 Cup Gram Flour
- 1 Teaspoon Carom Seeds (Ajwain)
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper Powder
- Water as required to make the batter
PREPARATION:
- Boil the eggs and cut every egg in 4 pieces
- Make the batter with Gram Flour, Salt, Carom Seeds and Black Pepper with a little water at a time.
- This batter should not be thick nor watery, a medium consistency batter which can coat the pieces of eggs and cover them.
- Heat oil on full and then turn the heat on low-medium.
- Put a piece of boiled egg into the batter and cover its top with the batter with the help of a spoon. With another spoon, scoop it and put it into the oil for frying.
- Repeat the process with each piece of egg and fry until golden.
- Take them out on a platter with Tissue paper to absorb the excess oil.
- Enjoy with Tomato Ketchup or my ALL PURPOSE SPECIAL CHUTNEY.
This is a very very simple recipe and does not take too much time, special snack for kids.
