TWISTER TATERS

TWISTER TATERS

My creation TWISTER TATERS is inspired from Tater Tots, an American Snack, popular for its unique taste and crispiness. It is made from deep fried grated potatoes with seasoning. The Tater Tots are crispy from the exterior and their cylindrical shape makes them something special to enjoy with tea.

This snack was introduced in 1953 in the USA. It is a very popular dish and approximately 70 million pounds of Tater Tots are consumed per year in the USA.

Tater is an abbreviation of Potato and Tots is because it is much loved by the kids, hence the word Tots for the Kids. This snack is common in lunch boxes of school children in the USA but now its popularity has reached all over the World.

Basically, these Tots are less spicy but we can add a few spices and change them according to our own atmosphere and taste. Here I am making these Tots with a Twist, adding beaten Eggs in boiled potatoes with some flour. The tricky part of all preparation is making and shaping the Tots as the dough becomes very sticky after addition of beaten eggs but with the help of a spoon, I managed to coat them in Bread Crumbs and then shaped them.

I am going to give my visitors a very simple homemade recipe with a twist, these are TWISTER TATERS and not Tater Tots as there is some change in its recipe, I have added eggs in the batter, which made it more sticky than the actual Tater Tots, but the result is fabulous. These can be prepared and enjoyed at home without any hassle of going to big superstores and pay a bit more than what they deserve.

I have planned to give you the recipe of Tater Tots as they are prepared in the USA very soon.

So, let us start our recipe of Homemade Twister Tots with the name of ALLAH.

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED:

  1. 3 Medium Potatoes
  2. 1/2 Cup All Purpose Flour
  3. 2 Eggs
  4. 1 Tablespoon Corn Flour or Rice Flour
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Black Pepper to taste
  7. 1/2 Teaspoon Oregano
  8. 1/2 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
  9. 1-2 drops of Yellow or Orange Color
  10. Bread Crumbs as required

PREPARATION:

  • Boil the potatoes for 7-8 minutes only and cool them when not fully boiled.
  • After the potatoes are cooled, peel the skin and coarsely mash them.
  • Add beaten eggs and other spices except for Bread Crumbs and mix them with a spoon or your hand.
  • This dough will be very sticky and will look difficult to shape them into Tots but we'll do it with the help of a spoon.
  • Take a spoon full of the batter and put it on the crumbs, coat them thoroughly, you'll see that now you can change their shape as you desire
  • Make the Tots in a cylindrical shape and place them in an oiled/greased tray for 25-30 minutes before frying.
  • Heat oil on medium-low in a flat bottom frying pan.
  • Put the Tots in oil, the oil should reach near to the top of the Tots.
  • Fry them for 3-4 minutes or till golden on both sides.
  • Take out of the pan on a Platter with Tissue paper on it.
  • Enjoy with Tomato Ketchup or our own "ALL PURPOSE SPECIAL CHUTNEY"

Hope you'll enjoy these Twister Taters or Tots and your kids will love them. Remember, there should be NO FEAR OF FAILURE while preparing the Taters.

EID SPECIAL MINI PIZZA

EID SPECIAL MINI PIZZA

Note:
Mozzarella Cheese is an essential part of Pizza, so please see to it that the Cheese you bought is of a good standard which melts as it has to. Unfortunately, the Cheese I used in this Mini Pizza was not as good as it has to be, it did not melt properly and I knew it after the Pizzas were baked.  So please, bear with me and my shortcomings.

One more thing I must clarify here that I am neither a Chef nor a Cooking Expert and at the same time I don't have sophisticated facilities available with me, like a well equipped and furnished Kitchen or the specialized utensils and machinery. At the same time, the pictures I take of my recipes are by Simple Mobile Phone, so I work with all these meager facilities.

I am more interested in baking but I know that my viewers need everything from a Cooking Blog, so that is why I try my hand in experimenting with other dishes. I request all my viewers to please keep in mind all my shortcomings as well.

I try my hand at everything because I am immune from FEAR OF FAILURE, and expect my viewers to do the same because if you fail in making any dish, try it again, the Sky will not fall if our dish is not up to the mark. Trying again and again with meager resources is a big success in itself. Remember, no one is perfect.

MINI PIZZA

Pizza is the favorite dish or snack at my home, kids love it, so my wife used to bake Pizzas at home for them. Later when I started baking, I learned the art of baking Pizza from my wife and tried some new ideas for Pizza, like Heart-Shaped Pizza, Sweet Pizza and then Mini Pizzas.  The Mini Pizza is more easy to distribute among the kids for having them as and when they like and they don't have to cut the pieces etc.

I wanted to give History of Pizza here but due to time constraints during Ramazan fasting, I have postponed this idea for now.  InshaALLAH, I'll give its history and other details when I'll post Traditional Standard size Pizza in Round, Square and Heart Shape.

MANGO LASSI

MANGO LASSI

Lassi is a popular traditional Yogurt-based drink from the Sub-continent. It is a blend of yogurt, water, milk, and sometimes fruit. Traditional lassi (a.k.a., "salted lassi", or simply "lassi") is a savory drink, sometimes flavored with ground and roasted Zeera. Sweet lassi, however, contains sugar or fruits, instead of spices. Salted mint lassi is highly favored in Bangladesh.
In Pakistan, salted lassi is often served with almost all kinds of meals, and is mostly made at home by simply whisking salt in yogurt and water. It is also sold at most dairy shops selling yogurt and milk, and both the salty and sweet variety is available.
The traditional mild sweet (or salty) form of lassi is more common in India & Pakistan. It is prepared by blending yogurt with water and adding sugar and other spices to taste. Salt can be substituted in place of sugar. The resulting beverage is known as salted lassi.
Sweet lassi is prepared with sugar,  Milk, and also Pera or Peda (Made of Milk Solids) or other fruit pulps. Za'frani lassis, particularly rich, are a specialty of Rajasthan and Gujarat in India and Sindh in Pakistan.

Mango lassi
Mango lassi is gaining popularity worldwide. It is made from yogurt, water, milk, and mango pulp. It may be made with or without sugar. It is widely available in the UK, Malaysia, Singapore, the United States, and many other parts of the world. In various parts of Canada, mango lassi is a cold drink consisting of mango pulp mixed with yogurt, cream, or ice cream. It is served in a tall glass with a straw, sometimes with ground pistachio nuts sprinkled on top.

Mango Lassi or any other fruit-flavored Lassi is not difficult to make, there are few ingredients to blend with crushed ice. Not only is its flavor great, but Lassi is a very healthy drink.
In Pakistan and especially in Punjab province, Lassi is a very popular breakfast item and it is also taken at night after dinner.

Saltish and simple Lassi which is made of only Yogurt and water with a sprinkle of salt is a traditional daily drink of breakfast in almost every village in Pakistan.  It is watery and not rich but healthy and digestive.

I am giving here a simple recipe of Mango Lassi to be enjoyed after Iftar and can be taken at Saher time for whole day energy.

Let us start preparing our recipe of Mango Lassi with the name ALLAH.
